This immersive and interactive workshop is designed to captivate and engage young adults offering a unique opportunity to explore the world of theater. Participants will gain valuable skills in acting, production, and performance, leading to a live showcase in front of an audience. This hands-on experience, guided by industry professionals, will build confidence, creativity, and collaboration, paving the way for personal and professional growth.

Workshop Objectives:

  1. Develop acting and performance skills through interactive exercises and rehearsals.
  2. Foster creativity and self-expression in a supportive environment.
  3. Provide tools and techniques for effective stage production and direction.
  4. Create an inclusive space where participants feel empowered and inspired.

Duration: 8 hours daily (including breaks), with an evening performance

Required Materials:

  • Comfortable clothing for movement exercises
  • Notebooks and pens
  • Scripts (provided)
  • Props and costumes for performance
  • Projector and screen (for presentations)

Workshop Schedule:

9:00 – 9:30 AM: Welcome and Introduction

  • Activity: Introduction of the facilitators and participants.
  • Content: Overview of the workshop’s purpose and agenda.
  • Exercise: Icebreaker activity to encourage creativity and teamwork.

9:30 – 11:00 AM: Acting Basics and Improvisation

  • Topic: Fundamentals of acting and the importance of improvisation.
  • Activity: Interactive improvisation games to build spontaneity and confidence.
  • Exercise: Perform short, improvised scenes in groups.

11:00 – 11:15 AM: Break

11:15 – 12:45 PM: Character Development and Script Work

  • Topic: Techniques for creating believable characters and interpreting scripts.
  • Activity: Group discussions and exercises on character backstory and motivation.
  • Exercise: Rehearse selected scenes from the script, focusing on character interaction.

12:45 – 1:45 PM: Lunch

  • Keynote Speaker: Inspirational talk by a renowned theater professional.

1:45 – 3:15 PM: Voice and Movement

  • Topic: Using voice and body language effectively on stage.
  • Activity: Voice projection exercises and movement workshops.
  • Exercise: Practice scenes with emphasis on vocal clarity and physical expression.

3:15 – 3:30 PM: Break

3:30 – 5:00 PM: Stagecraft and Production Design

  • Topic: Elements of stagecraft, including set design, lighting, and props.
  • Activity: Collaborative project to design and create simple sets and props.
  • Exercise: Integrate set pieces into rehearsed scenes, considering staging and movement.

5:00 – 6:30 PM: Rehearsal and Feedback

  • Activity: Run-through of the performance with constructive feedback from facilitators.
  • Dynamic: Peer review and collaborative problem-solving to refine scenes.

6:30 – 7:00 PM: Dinner Break

7:00 – 8:00 PM: Final Rehearsal and Preparation

  • Activity: Final adjustments and preparations for the performance.
  • Exercise: Quick run-through of key scenes and transitions.

8:00 – 9:00 PM: Live Performance

  • Activity: Participants perform in front of a live audience.
  • Dynamic: Celebrate the culmination of the day’s work with family, friends, and invited guests.

9:00 – 9:30 PM: Closing and Reflection

  • Activity: Reflect on the day’s achievements and experiences.
  • Exercise: Group discussion on personal growth and lessons learned.
  • Dynamic: Acknowledgements, feedback from the audience, and farewell.
